Thomas Walker Golf Design and Development, Inc. is dedicated to providing first quality, world-class golf design and re-design. We recognize the need to integrate the finest golf design with engineering, environmental, agronomic, management and permitting disciplines. We utilize practical business and financial planning to expedite the planning, approval and development process for new golf construction and existing remodels.
We are well versed in the necessary steps of the process producing concise biddable drawings. These drawings reflect the specific environment, on-site materials, and the intent of the owner or club whether it be a new design, renovation, or a master plan for phased improvements. We also are involved with consulting to existing courses regarding in-house improvements that help save maintenance time and increase a course's marketability.
Site Planning and Technical Solutions
The primary objective of site planning and engineering is to provide a functional site plan, within regulatory requirements, while resolving potential permitting and environmental issues. Close coordination of golf course design, land planning and engineering requirements is paramount in risk management and the regulatory approval process. Traditional site planning and engineering approaches applied to golf development projects often lead to difficult permitting situations and needless costly time delays in the project approval process. Through experience with numerous golf development projects Thomas Walker Golf Design & Development can assist the owner by providing the innovative technical and permit solutions in about half the time of conventional engineering and permitting approaches. Our past clients will attest to the time and dollars saved by using this aggressive and informed approach.
Course Construction Management and Observation, Design Coordination
We believe that our strongest asset is our desire to personally spend an inordinate amount of on-site time to assure the best possible golf design and to provide results in cost effective realization of the client’s goals and objectives.
As Principal, I have provided the on-site design coordination and construction management of fourteen projects including fast-track supervision of the world class Canyon Springs Course in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to providing golf design, I have the experience to manage the course construction process to assure a successful schedule and budget. I assist the owner with the selection of qualified golf course specialty contractors; set realistic critical path schedules; closely monitor project construction and seeks alternatives to increase quality while reducing costs in the field. Successful
construction management requires the ability to understand every phase
of the construction process. I have the experience of personally
supervising every phase of construction as a Construction
Superintendent for Wadsworth Golf Construction Company on 14 projects.
As Vice-President of Gary Player Design Company, I gained additional
experience overseeing the construction of over 20 projects. My
colleague, Jason Hollen has the experience of building 7 golf courses
from various positions for several construction companies including
Wadsworth Golf Construction Company.
I have worked in all types of environments (solid rock, flat terrain, mountain courses and swamps) and have a keen understanding of the agronomic requirements for the development of fine golf /sports turf. I have personally grown-in a golf course and take pride in assuring the proper specifications and procedures to produce a top-quality product.
